Our New House!

On Sunday, the 29^th of January, we moved into our new house! We were all so excited! It is not too far from our old house, so the drive was not long! The kittens did not like driving in the car and meowed a lot! The little ones thought that moving was a great adventure and enjoyed it lots! Our new house is much bigger than our old house and it is also on a farm! It needs a lot of work, but, when we are done, it will be beautiful! We can have animals, a veggie garden and lots of flowers! I will be posting again soon about our lives on our new farm! Have a good weekend!

Heidi's Baking Fun Challenge - Lemon Cordial

Sorry I haven't posted sooner, but we have been very busy packing to move! Even though this week has been rather busy, I still had time to make something to enter into ‘Heidi’s Baking Fun Challenge’ which is ‘Smoothies and Cold Drinks’ this fortnight and I made Lemon Cordial!

It is very easy and quick to make.

All you need is:

1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 cup of sugar

Put both ingredients into a small saucepan and stir over a medium heat on the stove until the sugar has dissolved.  Pour the syrup into a jug/bowl and leave to cool for about 5 minutes.  Then pour it into a glass bottle.  Cut a slice of lemon in half and pop it into the bottle of cordial.  Pour a little into a glass and top up with cold water and ice.

Enjoy!

Happy Wedding Anniversary Mom and Dad!

On the 8^th of January my mom and dad celebrated their 18^th wedding anniversary! We all went to Jubilee Creek and had a picnic. The littles played in the creek and Kelly and I found a deeper spot to swim in! It was soooo much fun!!!

Kelly and I were very busy before the day making presents for our mom and dad!

We both made them a card and I made a felt heart that said Mom and Dad 18 Years!

The other day when my mom was trying to clear the kitchen table she accidently bumped my mug over and it broke, so Kelly and I decided to make a mosaic wall-hanging with the pieces of the mug for their anniversary. We used 3 different wooden heart sizes, organza ribbon, paper roses and beads. I hope you both had a lovely day mom and dad!

Welcoming Sarafina and Tiffany!

Welcoming Sarafina and Tiffany, our new kittens! Tiffany is my kitten and Sarafina is the family kitten, though I look after them both. Sarafina got her name from one of the little ones movies! And Tiffany got her name from a restaurant!

Merry Christmas!

   Merry Christmas and a happy new year!  

We decorated our Christmas tree on Thursday night and afterwards had home-made mince pies and cocoa!

On Christmas Eve we each made our own Christmas tree shaped pizzas and watched a family movie together!

Everyone was excited on Christmas morning, especially the little ones!

In the afternoon we went to friends for an early Christmas supper!  It was lots of fun!

In Remembrance of Smokey

Late at night on the 26th of October my cat, Smokey, came home seriously injured. He had been caught in a trap and had somehow managed to get free and come home to me! That was soooo special! First thing the next morning we took him to the vet. Later that morning the vet phoned and said that we would have to put him down! His front left and back right paws were so badly crushed that they would have to be amputated and no cat can function with only two paws! I was soooo sad! I buried him at our new farm and planted a mulberry tree over his grave. So every time we pick mulberries, we can remember him! I am going to get another kitten soon.  But I still miss him soooo much!

Sensational Sewing Challenge - Something Useful

This month at 'Sensational Sewing Challenge' the theme was Something Useful.  I made a felt bedside holdall. My mom found this idea while browsing on the web.  She cannot remember where though, so our apologies for not acknowledging this lovely idea.  The original holdall was made in material, but felt is so much easier and quicker to work with and this time of year, that worked for me!

This bedside holdall has a pocket for a bottle, toy, book or notebook and pencil. It is such an easy thing to make. I just taped 3 A4 Pieces of paper together for a pattern cut it out with mom's zigzag scissors and hand-stitched all the pockets and embellishments.  I am very pleased with how it turned out and will give it to my little sister, Gabrielle, as a Christmas present!
